The Uplift Society
SUMMARY OF PROJECT
Together, We Make Change is a 12-week youth-led initiative designed to build volunteerism, leadership, and advocacy skills among youth aged 15–30 in Ottawa. Through weekly, themed activities blending community service, creative expression, social connection, and reflection, youth participants co-create and lead events—from water drives and storytelling circles to art workshops and civic engagement sessions—culminating in a community celebration.
SUMMARY OF PLAN
The project tackles youth disconnection caused by social isolation, lack of inclusive leadership opportunities, and systemic barriers—especially for racialized and underserved youth. It counters the narrative that leadership is only for “experienced” or privileged individuals by making it accessible, creative, collaborative, and supportive, fostering belonging and confidence.
