Visionary Voices
SUMMARY OF PROJECT
Digital Storytellers is a 6-week video production program starting April 2025, empowering racialized youth in Ottawa (ages 15–30) to create and share their own stories through film. Through weekly workshops on filming, editing, storytelling, and community engagement, youth lead every stage—from content creation to public screenings—building technical skills and amplifying underrepresented voices.
SUMMARY OF PLAN
The project combats systemic underrepresentation of racialized youth in media and civic discourse, tackling barriers like limited access to technology, lack of creative training, and negative mainstream portrayals. By democratizing digital storytelling tools and fostering peer mentorship, it reduces marginalization, counters stereotypes, and provides platforms for authentic youth expression and community connection.
