Women’s Empowerment Program
SUMMARY OF PROJECT
The Women’s Empowerment Soccer Program (WES Program) is a youth-led initiative in Ottawa using soccer to boost confidence, mental health, and resilience in young girls. Through free training sessions, friendly matches, and workshops, participants gain skills in teamwork, leadership, and self-advocacy. By creating a safe and inclusive space, the program helps girls build confidence both on and off the field.
SUMMARY OF PLAN
Many girls face barriers to sports including low confidence, fear of judgment, limited access, and gender stereotypes. These issues lead to decreased participation and missed opportunities for growth. WES addresses these challenges by offering mentorship, inclusive coaching, and outreach that celebrates female athletes while challenging gender norms.
