Valiant Wrestling

SUMMARY OF PROJECT

“Wrestling: Bridging Cultures Through Sport” is a youth-led program offering free biweekly wrestling sessions that blend traditional techniques from different cultures. Led by young volunteer wrestlers, the project teaches discipline, teamwork, and resilience while creating an inclusive space for newcomer and Canadian-born youth. Beyond training, it fosters mental wellness, cultural appreciation, and community connection, culminating in a public showcase event celebrating youth achievements.

SUMMARY OF PLAN

Many newcomer and immigrant youth face barriers to sports—cultural underrepresentation, financial constraints, and social isolation. Traditional sports like Turkish wrestling are rarely offered, leaving youth disconnected from their heritage and hesitant to join mainstream clubs. This program removes those barriers by providing free access, culturally inclusive coaching, and a welcoming peer network that supports integration and personal growth.
