- Co-op housing involves paying fees and sharing maintenance responsibilities.
- Interested individuals must apply to each co-op separately; information can be found at Co-op Housing Ottawa.
- Supportive housing provides extra care, medical assistance, meals, cleaning, and access to nursing care.

- Seniors can choose to stay in their homes with help for chores through Home Care services provided by the Local Health Integration Network (LHIN).

Handy Helpers by the Good Companions
Services are available for individuals aged 55 and above, as well as adults with physical disabilities residing north of the Queensway between Preston Street and Blair Road. If you reside outside of this specified area, please refer to this page to identify an agency that can provide assistance. Membership with The Good Companions is not required to access this service. The Handy Helper volunteers from The Good Companions are ready to assist with various tasks and odd jobs, including but not limited to:
- Changing batteries in smoke detectors and replacing light bulbs.
- Tightening doorknobs, locks, and adjusting or installing hinges.
- Putting up shelves and pictures at a reasonable and safe height.
- Assembling flat-pack furniture at a reasonable and safe height.
- Undertaking small gardening jobs on a one-off basis, excluding tree pruning.
- Taking down and putting up curtains and curtain rods (limited to a safe ceiling height).
- Replacing tap washers and repairing dripping taps.
- Offering basic computer and technology assistance, such as cell phones, tablets, connecting new TVs, printers, and answering machines.
