The Social Planning Council of Ottawa

The SPC relies on donations, membership fees and research contracts to cover costs which are not covered within our grants.

The SPC is a registered charity and provides receipts for income tax purposes.

In 2006, donations were 2% of our revenues, and paid for

  • Partial printing of the Ottawa Buy Local Guide
  • Participant expenses to enable low income residents to participate in our community development work including the Kids and Community project and the Communities Within project (including childcare, refreshments and reimbursement of transportation)
  • Purchase of data to prepare our research and answer information requests
  • Translation of some of our research and information into French

Critical Needs in 2007

For 2007 we have a critical need for donations to cover the following:

  • Participant expenses for low income parents who are volunteering in the Kids and Community project to increase inclusion for families with young children. Participant expenses include childcare, transportation and some refreshements.
  • Printing costs of the Buy Local Map. Each map costs approximately $2.00 to produce.
  • Translation for our research and information.
  • Sponsorships for a fall networking forum to increase inclusion for families of young children

If you wish to specify which project you are supporting with your donation, please let us know.
